Digital Badges on the rise: Employers are beginning to embrace their benefits

In today’s competitive job market employers are increasingly seeking innovative ways to attract applicants in a wide range of sectors for roles at all levels, as well as being keen to streamline their recruitment processes to make it easier for people to apply for work.

Digital badges, are emerging as a powerful tool because they focus on skills and attributes can help organisations build talent pipelines, ensuring they are well-prepared for future recruitment needs. They offer a modern approach to showcasing skills and achievements, as well as helping candidates – particularly those who are not used to the word of work – to gain confidence.

Research by Deloitte reveals that digital badges are gaining momentum, with a third of HR professionals now incorporating them into their hiring strategies. But what will accelerate this trend and help more employers fully appreciate their value?

The Region of Learning has seen a remarkable 163% increase in digital badges issued over the past six months. Employer Engagement Officer, Julian Stanley, believes that sharing success stories will inspire even more businesses to explore their potential benefits:

“We’re working with employers across the region, and we are ramping up our efforts to increase the number of employers pledging their support over the next six months. Digital badges don’t need to be overly complicated and in the new year we will publish a series of case studies that will demonstrate real-world examples of their use and impact.”

“Digital Badges verify essential skills in a quick and straightforward way, as well as being easily shareable on social media, which helps raising the profile of business and helps attract more local talent. They help to future-proof a business by building a workforce for the future and motivate staff by demonstrating investment in their development, which helps everyone feel valued and recognised.”
