As you gain badges, it’s easy to share them on platforms such as Linkedin or upload  them to a digital profile, CV or email signature.

    Digital badges can:

  • Any business in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough can make a pledge to recognise digital badges. You can complete the pledge form today and help us to shape a more inclusive and skills-focused future. 

    If you’re struggling to recruit for a role or not sure exactly which skills you’re looking for, you can work with one or more learning or training providers to create a series of digital badges with the skills you need, creating a pathway towards your job opportunity. You can also start to create your own digital badges for work experience, internships, apprenticeships or training. 

    We offer employers additional support in exchange with their recognition and implementation of digital badges within their organisation. We offer the following:

    • Up to £3,000 to support your organisation* 

    • Coaching and mentoring throughout the whole process

    • Digital badge licence to a platform that suits your needs

    • Digital badge writing, quality assurance support endorsed by City &; Guilds

    • Delivery of pathway and support for individuals to work towards your vacancy.

    • Collaboration with local learning providers to meet your needs.

    Employers receiving a bursary would be required to do the following:

    • Write and issue digital badges for your organisation.

    • Recognise and promote the use of digital badges as part of your recruitment.

    • Display your pledge to recognise digital badges.

    • Take part in evaluation interviews for case studies.

    • Give permission for your organisation name to be used in further promotion.

    Any business in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough can get in touch for help to create digital badges and learn more about the process. Region of Learning offers grants to help local SMEs and other eligible employers get started. 

    We will help you with the digital badge process – from writing or creating the digital badge through to how to make it available via a digital badge platform. 

    *Bursaries can be used for staff time, additional training, communications,

    commissioning bespoke training courses, to work with local learning providers

    and more and will be issued on a case by case basis.

  • To issue a digital badge, you need to have membership with a digital badge platform provider, which costs on average £300 – £1,000. Region of Learning supports the development of digital badges to the RSA open badge standard and to meet this nationally recognised standard, your badges will need to be quality assured – this will be covered by grant funding.

    To be eligible for this grant you will need to meet one of the following conditions:

    -Not-for-profit organisation

    -Small to medium size enterprises (SME)

    -Charity

    -Those working within specific pathway development projects including Open University and -City & Guilds qualifications

    -Those meeting high priority areas such as: 

    • Disadvantaged groups

    • Cambridge City Council residents

    • Vulnerable adults and young people

    • NEETs

    -Those who are progressing priority growth areas or meeting LSIP aims:

    • Manufacturing

    • Agri-tech

    • Digital

    • Life sciences

    • Green skills

    You can also store digital badges in one place with the use of a digital badge wallet such as the UK Skills Pass, a free online tool designed to store and share digital badges and other digital certificates which you can access via your phone, tablet or computer.

    We’re asking employers from across the region to show that they understand and value digital badges as a trusted and effective way of verifying skills.

    Making the pledge is a commitment to start recognising digital badges as part of your recruitment process or professional development for existing members of your team. It is free and all we ask of employers who pledge is  to promote digital badges, support employees and candidates to access digital badges and share and display your digital badge pledge on your website or your workplace. 

    In return for pledging, you will get:

    • A Region of Learning employer pledge digital badge for display, to demonstrate your dedication to recognising skills. 

    • Your company logo featured on the Region of Learning website. 

    Opportunity to participate in virtual information sessions as well as workshops with learning providers and youth services across the region.

    • A  free consultation session with our team to help you  share the benefits of digital badges with colleagues, managers and board members.

    • Resources and materials to help you promote your involvement on your website, communication channels  or in your workplace.

    Badges can be earned in a variety of ways which could include taking part in workshops, networking events, volunteering or work experience.  

    Badges are issued through a QR code or email address or they can be gained by completing a quiz or filling in an application form. Once issued they belong to that specific individual and are safe and secure.

    Badges are a tangible way of documenting what has been achieved, that is both visual and can be shared digitally. These can be shared on websites, email signature, Linkedin profile and CV.
